Eight Steps to Mirror Shine Your Boots
1st Step – Remove laces
First of all, remove the laces from your boots, so you can easily give shine to all parts of the boots. After removing, you will notice the dust on the boot tongue.
2nd Step – Remove dust from boots
Take a shoe brush and start removing dust from all parts of the boots. Make sure to remove dust from the tongue of the boot as well. Otherwise, the dust will ruin the shine of your boots. If your boots are extremely dirty, then read our guide to clean leather boots.
3rd Step – Apply polish
Take a dauber brush and start applying polish on your boots with that brush. Ensure to apply polish on all parts of the boots. Now pick up the shoe brush and start balancing the polish on all parts of the boots. Again apply the polish. It will be best if you spend more time polishing the toe box because that part of the boot makes the real difference. After applying the polish two times, you will see a clear difference in the look of the boots.
4th Step – Soak a Cotton ball
Now bring a small amount of water ( few drops). Soak the cotton ball in it. After soaking, squeeze the cotton ball, make sure to release at least 90% of the water from the cotton ball.
5th Step – Apply polish with a cotton ball
Now pick up the damped cotton ball and apply polish on it. Then rub that cotton ball gently on all parts of the boots. After that, you will see a shiny look of your boots.
6th Step – Apply wet cotton on boots
Now pick up another clean cotton ball. Soak the cotton, and then rub that wet cotton on the boots. Make sure to rub on all parts of the boots to make them extra shine.
7th Step – Heat front outsole to bring mirror shine on boots
Now heat the front outsole of the boots. You do it with the lighter or with the hairdryer. If you want to do it with a lighter, do it carefully; just don’t hurt yourself. If you want to do it with the hairdryer, keep the distance of at least 5-6 inches. The purpose of heating the front outsole is to merge the polish into it. After heating gently, again apply the polish with the cotton ball on the front outsole and heat it again so that polish completely merges into it. After this step, you will notice a mirror shine in your boots.
8th Step – Lace Boots
Now you can lace the boots, as the tongue of the boots is cleaned and polished. If you don’t know how to lace boots, read our guide to lace boots.
